Doagl Kapelle

Wörgl, Austria

This is a short, circular hike which runs between Wörgl and Mayrhofen. It’s perfectly placed as a relaxing Sunday walk if you live in the area.

The Route

It’s a super easy route to navigate, as it is marked clearly and the path is well worn. Starting from Bodensiedlung, Wörgl, make your way up the hill until you encounter a sign marked out for Weiler Haus.

You’ll enter a straightforward forest trail, from which point on you only need to follow the path along trees marked with an Austrian flag.

Tree Marking Indicating Route

Once you exit the treeline, you’ll find a farm to your left. The chapel is directly behind it. Don’t worry about walking along the driveway to get there.

It is a tiny chapel, with only a few pews. But it’s a great place to spend a few minutes unwinding and enjoying the type of silence that only buildings of worship seem to offer.

Inside The Chapel

There’s a small bench outside, and you’ll find a nice view of the surrounding villages from it. As mentioned, this hike is perfect for unwinding and taking things slowly. I’d recommend taking some time to enjoy the scenery before you head back.

To return, retrace your steps for about 100 metres until you come across a sign pointing you towards the Wörgl Wanderweg. Following this will take you back to the treeline via a slightly different route (between a couple of farms), and will ultimately lead you back to where you started.
